Website critisism

Can I get some constructive feedback on my website please.

I am aware of that the shop page needs work I have only just added it and had no time to do anything with it.

Looks great to me, better than I could do.

Despite running this site which is mostly just my blog and this forum, I don't have a portfolio myself. So, I am really interested in this idea. I like seeing other people's so I can get ideas of what I might do.

I think you've picked some lovely pictures. I like the idea of having the blog part and writing a few things. The fun with a blog is you can really make it yourself and cover anything you'd like to - from practical tutorials on post-processing or technical shooting, or more abstract pictures with poetry you've written or something! Just whatever you're into. Let's your visitors get a better feeling of who you are and what you might be like.

I don't really have any feedback because I'm not one to talk (don't have one myself, remember, lol). But I would say if you're sending this to clients and hoping to get hired I would be more specific about what you do. It does seem nice to say you do everything, but from my professional life (software engineer) I've learned you attract more attention when you sell yourself as really good at one thing, but also capable of a little of everything. If that makes sense. Maybe that doesn't apply to photography - I wouldn't know! Hah!

Anyway, thanks for sharing it! I love viewing people's work.

Happy snappin' 🙂

I agree with the comments so far. I also feel like I shouldn't comment because I don't have one of my own, but here's my feedback nonetheless. I think overall it is a lovely site. The landing page, which is probably the most important (first impressions and all hat), is stunning. The samples are wonderful. When I went to your about page I thought it would be nice to see some photos of you doing your work (or maybe a separate page giving a visual narrative of what a photo shoot with you is like). I think it helps people to be more comfortable hiring someone when they can see them in action first.

There are several images on this website that are the kind of thing I was imagining. The photos show the photographer at work but keep the pet as the main subject of the photo (through framing and focus) - I think that is good. Just an idea!

Looks great! I agree with the other comments and appreciate that you have a blog, too. Weirdly, the one thing it left me wondering was about the 40 mile radius; like, if someone wanted to hire you for something that sounded great and was lucrative, would you drive a bit further? Just a random thought, and you likely have your reasons! As a homebody myself, I definitely understand the pull and value of home. Anyway, great stuff. Animals are so crazy! Gotta love'em.
