Sunday afternoon, I went to an old car/sculpture park south of Minneapolis called Hot Sam's Antiques, I brought a couple expired rolls of film with me along with my Minolta X700 & MC Auto 28mm F3.5/MD 135mm F3.5.  I received my X700 from a coworker whose brother suffered a stroke and had it stashed away in a garage box for 20 years.  He gave it to me as they were emptying house to relocate him into assisted living. I replaced the light seals and resoldered the battery receptacle.

These shots are on Seattle Works 200, which expired in 2001.  It's actually Ferrania Solaris 200 relabeled for their own in store branding, I absolutely love the golden hue this emulsion gives off.  It's my first time shooting it, and I'm definitely seeking out some good deals.

A few scans of Kodak Royal Gold Select 400 as well! I unfortunately had to address my adult responsibilities and we'll have to finish scanning later once I'm finished with my shift at work.

Now, last images taken about racecars so far 🙂

2 weeks after the racing at Valencia (photos posted on the September thread) we have had the same cars racing here home, at Barcelona.

Let me add some of my fav images

IMGP5171 by Daniel Gonzalez Aguilera, en Flickr

I like closed cars as they usually have numbers or panels on the front windscreen and so you can try to play with that.

I usually like (I guess everyone does) to go where I believe cars will be in a non confortable environment. So they cut and a wheel is off, or so on in order to show the speed they do carry.

I need to admit that some of those images are taken in different days, they are not all from the same day. There was no time to cover so many spots in one day 🙂

IMGP1256 by Daniel Gonzalez Aguilera, en Flickr

Here as in the previous pic my mates and I were walking the track by it's outside line

IMGP0451 by Daniel Gonzalez Aguilera, en Flickr

Same here

IMGP0594 by Daniel Gonzalez Aguilera, en Flickr

And we walked to the brigde. I was packing my K3 with the 21mm limited (that I added to the K3-III) and it was so much fun.

IMGP1500 by Daniel Gonzalez Aguilera, en Flickr

The previous photos were taken with the K3-III and my Sigma 100-300mm f4 that, few minutes later, decided to stop working and just fully open at F4 and burn all my images. So, yeah.... as it does sometimes. It's such a good lens.... when it works. (and that's just my copy that has suffererd 2 rebuilds).

That day I have decided to take some high and it quite worked.

Do you know Valentino Rossi?

IMGP1605 by Daniel Gonzalez Aguilera, en Flickr

That one pic is also been taken around the same time

Let me show you the pic that was harder to get from the weekend:

IMGP4054 by Daniel Gonzalez Aguilera, en Flickr

I was shooting the K3-III with the 150-450mm and man, I mostly had all pics blurry shooting at 1/40th of a second (or even 1/60th but I was trying to get low to show more motion) .

And some more:

IMGP1659 by Daniel Gonzalez Aguilera, en Flickr

I have to admit we have been lucky having a great light at times,

IMGP9534 by Daniel Gonzalez Aguilera, en Flickr

That is Turn 5, I always love to go there because cars tend to just go over the limit

IMGP6276 by Daniel Gonzalez Aguilera, en Flickr

And if you move a bit you also can catch images like this one

IMGP8554 by Daniel Gonzalez Aguilera, en Flickr

Or that one:

IMGP5817 by Daniel Gonzalez Aguilera, en Flickr

At the racetrack there are 2 new buildings and I never thought the biggest one will be open (the other one I know it won't) since I just saw some people there. So I wanted to know and see, and play and try

Now, this time we had no access to pit lane, buuut from the exit of it you could zoom in

IMGP4148 by Daniel Gonzalez Aguilera, en Flickr

And, if lucky, not many people was around on frame

IMGP4160 by Daniel Gonzalez Aguilera, en Flickr

I totally forgot to show the start of the race, those guys were going for it! In a 3h long!

At the end the Ferraris won 1-2 even though the white Mercedes crossed the line first,

IMGP9075 by Daniel Gonzalez Aguilera, en Flickr

oh yes! and there was a big oil leake so the marshals had a lot of work to do

Another pic from Turn 5 (shooting Turn 2)

The light as spoken was good at times

IMGP1050 by Daniel Gonzalez Aguilera, en Flickr

Oh yes and there are specific time slots when drivers have to sign autographs, that one is Benja Hites who became champ in his class and whom I have worked with in the past

(same driver)

IMGP7363 by Daniel Gonzalez Aguilera, en Flickr

Let me add a fast Porsche

IMGP9644 (2) by Daniel Gonzalez Aguilera, en Flickr

Here I am not showing that much of speed, I reckon. I was struggling with the autofocus so I was frustrated and shooting at higher speeds

IMGP6854 by Daniel Gonzalez Aguilera, en Flickr

Okay the last ones,

Just a close-up to Rossi (he crashed and retired)

Winners!!!

IMGP1388 by Daniel Gonzalez Aguilera, en Flickr

As it was the last Race of the Season for this championship (okay not the championship because it's a 2 sides championship the Endurance Races and the Sprint Races, but for the Endurance part of it) there were many podium celebrations about Race Winners AND each category champions

IMGP1830 by Daniel Gonzalez Aguilera, en Flickr

Here the guy I have shown you before I knew. He told me they could became champs so I told him I was waiting to see him on the Podium, and he delivered.

IMGP1788 by Daniel Gonzalez Aguilera, en Flickr

And yeah, most likely that was it.

Sorry for the lots of images. I took thousands of them xD

Thanks for Alec giving me an expired roll of Kodak Tech. Pan 25 in 120 Format in May, when we met up in Pella with James.  I shot it and dev. at box speed!  The results were stunning out of this 40 year expired roll!  I chose downtown Minneapolis and the mill district to utilize the dark contrast!  Pentax 6x7 MLU with the 67 Takumar 55mm F3.5  & 200mm F4

I'm a sucker for old abandoned buildings on the prairies

I'm loosing track of what camera/lens took what. I basically drive around with all my gear laid out in the back seat of the car and pick between:

  • Pentax K-1 II with Tamron 17-35mm or 28-85mm
  • Pentax K-3 II with Tamron 70-200mm
  • Olympus OM-D E-M5 ii with Lumix 20mm f1.7
