Last night's sunset, local non profit farmstead.  Fuji Finepix Pro S2 and Nikkor 28-85mm F3.3-5.6.  Really surprised at how much I could pull out of shadows shooting RAW on this old body.

Beautiful colors! I don't know about that camera so I did a web search. $35 on ebay...and pictures like that. Amazing. I think in general we really do spend more money than we need to on photography equipment. It's hard to resist gear acquisition syndrome...and it doesn't help that there's so many cool cameras and lenses, both new and old, out there. 😅

Today we had a picnic at a nearby lake. We were packing up to leave when this guy nonchalantly swims by. I took some shots from our picnic table at first. He was pretty close but the angle was poor (shooting from high up) and my settings weren't ideal. So I ran around some brush to the shore and boy was the light nicer there. Back at the table it was just dark water, here we had color on the water and I was more level with the fella. Leg work is worth it. 🙂

Trusty K-3 and 55-300 PLM.

The RODEO photos! Omg! @sprucebruce they're so classic, I love them.

@beau-carpenter your greenery looks good enough to eat! Especially the 2nd one. What lens are you shooting?

@jbp that shot of the heron with his wings out and the reflection, and the b&w one, are simply gorgeous. Also loved the shell. Dreamy bokeh.

@kcphotogeek you're proof that it's the photographer and not the tool, bc I have the same IR converted module and everything I take with it looks terrible. Yours are moving, and arresting.

I need to check in more often so I can reply when y'all post and not sit here with two windows, trying to catch up! I'm only halfway through the posts since I last replied 😅

Mixed bag, this month has been weird.

I've been using the Super Takumar 135mm 3.5 a LOT on my Sigma fp.

We've had a lot of dark skies…

We're in monsoon season, and it keeps storming all around us, but barely hitting our house directly. We really need the rain… our brush looks dead and the cactuses are beginning to struggle a little.

The Takumar is an excellent panorama lens, being sharp corner to corner. I think I might be getting some odd coloration on the edges in some shots but not sure if that's the lens, the camera, or my imagination.

Got this crazy "supernumerary" rainbow though! Editing this was really hard. The fp's RAW files are so flat, sometimes it's hard to know where to go.

And a portrait of our friend who is moving away. One of the very few people we've met since moving here right before the pandemic 😩

The Takumar is wayyyyyyy too sharp to be a great portrait lens (and the bokeh's a bit busy)… I had to knock the texture and clarity down so hard to make a pleasing portrait and she has really good skin to start with! First world problems?

Thanks!

The first and last image were taken on the Fujifilm 23mm f/1.4 LM R WR

The middle two were taken on the Fujifilm 50-140 f/2.8

Both are relatively new lenses in my collection as I have downsized in a big way and sold off all of my Micro 4/3 and Canon EF gear. Not sure if I'll end up keeping the 50-140mm, I got it used for a great price, but it still is pretty pricey and it's HUGE.

The 23mm f/1.4 is a winner, also purchased used and it's fantastic no complaints at all.

Wow, fantastic photographs! Lovely colors and texture in the skies. That supernumerary rainbow...WOW! 😲

Some shots by my wife with her Oly EM10-II at our picnic yesterday. These are with the 60mm f/2.8 macro which is her favorite lens. It's such a cool little camera! I'm looking for a used 300mm for her now (probably one of the regular zooms...those primes and "pro" lenses are $$$) for wildlife shots. We have a beach trip coming up and she's going to love the m4/3 crop factor with a 300mm, I'm sure!

I included some shots of her in action. That pinky pop. 🤣

Beautiful macro shots, beautiful colors and sharp where it should be sharp.

The E-M10II is well balanced with the Oly 75-300 MarkII. That's mostly my "grab and image" combo for birds in the garden. But today I'd seriously consider the Lumix 100-300, because it has OIS and it is faster at the long end. The Oly's f/6.7 isn't that fast and despite the IBIS of the E-M10II is remarkably good, I think it's a good thing to be able to shorten the exposure time and to have the second option of the OIS in the Lumix lens...

So I've read alot of reviews saying that it can be soft?  I'm debating whether or not to get the 75-300 Mk Ii or the 100-400 instead.

Thank you for the advice! It is more expensive but I am considering it now. I have lots of research to do...
