Pentax KP and DA 18-135MM WR F3.5-5.6
Quote from SpruceBruce on February 7, 2021, 3:43 amCaptured this beautiful patina of the North Point Water Tower yesterday on the Lake Michigain waterfront in Milwaukee. I’m currently in Madison, WI for the airline I work for and made a day trip to out there to explore. It’s my first time using the 18-135, I’m impressed with the quality of it for being an all around zoom. I love the colors that the KP rendered SOOC. Shot it at F8 and the 135mm focal point. My previous camera experience is with shooting Nikon, and generally their zooms drop off the edges and have quite a bit of distortion. Nothing that LR can’t fix with a lens profile correction.

Quote from James Warner on February 8, 2021, 12:54 pmWow, very pretty water tower! I've never seen one like that. Cool you got to explore a bit there.
The Pentax 18-135 was my go-to for years. It struggled a little bit on the long end. Sometimes more than others, I never did figure it out, but back then I didn't know very much technically about photography. Maybe I just needed to stop it down more. Either way, it's a really nifty all-rounder.

Quote from SpruceBruce on February 9, 2021, 6:52 amI can admit that’s part of the experience of with making blunders with learning the skill. It just pushes you to be a better photographer. I thought my Nikon D3500 wasn’t a good camera, I’d get frustrated with not understanding the exposure triangle in the beginning. I’m a big gear doesn’t matter advocate, the 135mm 5.6 doesn’t bother me one bit, sure its not a low light monster, but it’s more than serviceable. I’m guessing you got yours with the K3? I think I saw it on your not let’s forget video for it in the thumbnail with it sitting in the snow. Great content as always, I really enjoy your videos and shooting style. Especially that you’re not pushing $1500-$2000 glass with red rings, and over edited LR exports. I noticed most gear reviewers aren’t necessarily good photographers as well.

Yep, I used it on my K-5 and K-3. If I wasn't getting too crazy trying a bunch of vintage lenses right now I'd still own one. I loved it for landscapes. Very versatile.

Haha, thanks. Yes, I do see that sometimes 😉

Quote from SpruceBruce on February 12, 2021, 7:53 pmTook these at the Olbrich Botanical Garden conservatory, it was -30F windchill outside. Just lovely to document greenery for a change.
On an end note, I’m struggling to get my images to post in the post itself. It just posts a blank box, not sure what I’m doing wrong.

Very nice pics! That was a good idea. It just dropped temps here (though not anywhere near that cold!!) and I've been struggling figuring out what to shoot. All the animals hid. All the plants are dead 😀
Thanks for bringing that up. I'll make a post soon about how to do it and sticky it, because it is very confusing how to get it to work with flickr. In the long term I want to either find a setting that lets it embed like normal (thought I had that working but it's not) or just allow people uploads to the site. The latter is hard because then I have to pay for all that storage 😕

I added support for BBCodes, so now you should just be able to click the share button on Flickr, go to the BBCode tab, and copy and paste that link in your post!
Let me know if it doesn't work.
Thanks
