I know, right?

I bought my K5 there in a 2nd hand store in Japan and the price compared to Europe was 50% off. (always speaking 2nd hand Vs 2nd hand in Europe).

But that 21% of Taxes kills all the deals.

Here in NZ, it's 15% GST. It's OK as it kind of helps the local market compete with overseas ones. Even so, oftentimes, even with the tax, there are still some really good deals in Japan.

Indeed, when you find a great deal it's worthy.
It's just that one of those cameras will cost around 1300-1400€ and even thought they are at a very low price, 1400 isn't that far off 1699€ from a new one or probably from any other unit around ebay Europe that might come out at a similar selling price.

But i totally agree with your point.
