MPB Europe: My personal experience so far (Mostly Selling)

PreviousPage 2 of 2

Thanks for sharing your experience!

I've bought and sold thru MPB Germany /EU . I find their price quite fair and sometimes quite cheap for some lenses. I have bought two Sigma 150-500mm and two Sigma 85mm 1.4 from them and they were all undervalued. The only problem I had is when I bought the FA* which was advertised to have a lens hood but it came without. I raised this with them and they have sent me two random Canon lens hoods (haha)  so I complained once again. They gave me a considerable discount in the end so my purchase ended up as a bargain.

In terms of selling, they have always been fair as well. Never had a problem.

Cheers

So the Sigma is back at MPB, now waiting for them to take it back.

Apart from this lens I recently bought a very cheap DA 35mm f2.4 AL as I always wondered what is the magic 35mm lenses have. It arrived today. It looks fantastic and seems to work perfect. No complaints at all with this one. Looks like a satisfiying purchase in this occasion.

So on the way back returning the Sigma the process has taken some days and some mistakes where made (as I traded off a lens also) but they were very resolutive.

On the purchase of the DA 35mm f2.4 AL no complaints at all.

Great customer service I must admit.

A new chapter of that book has been aded today.

Not a nice one, I just felt offended.

I am selling my Pentax HD DA 1.4x Teleconverter to get almost all my money back(it has been used twice).

I hace decided to quote this 425€ today in Amazon, Teleconverter and I marked it as New or the highest rate as it is in fact new.

I have got a proposal of buying it at 165€. I feel terribly betrayed and offended. Of course I have denied this possibility. I think something is broken in MPB Germany. They sell more expensive than regular 2nd hand market (and if they buy THAT cheap, they should sell CHEAP), they sell stuff in POOR condition (haze, fungus, no AF.....) but they buy at prices out of market and punching you in your face.

Luckily I don't have the need to sell, I do sell because I can't return it to Amazon and I won't use it.

But I can imagine having the need for instant cash and man, it's ruthless and very offensive.

Sorry but I need to share this.

I recently bought a quite destroyed Pentax D-BG8 battery grip for my 2nd K3-III thinking "oh well, it's beaten up but I can handle this".

It came home today (i payed the 30€ price to have it in one day) and for my surprise this was a Pentax D-BG5 battery grip. Which doesn't fit at all a K3-III but a K3 regular.  Now I need to wait 24 to 48hs to get a response (affirmative or negative) about sending it back.

I need to send it back and hopefully they'll take it back.

But take this in consideration when buying at the Europe Shop, it seems that sometimes, there are some mistakes.

P.S.
Ended up buying it at B&H who not only had one "used" at 166$ plus shipping and taxes (total was 245$ to ship it to Spain), but also have it new at 196$ which is still a bargain compared to the 330€ that costst in Europe, at least.

So, I would say, if you are after one, and specially if you are in the American continent, don't hesitate and go for it.

Actually today it has arrived!

It's brand new, even though it says "Used" I think this was just opened once.
If you need one, go for this one at B&H, it's a good deal I would say.

If you still have stuff to sell you could maybe give kamerastore.com a try? They give you an offer before you send anything and from what I've heard they stick with it if the condition is as described. If they reduce the offer they will tell you why and you can decline and get the item back.
They seem to sell just about everything in any condition and if they can they will even repair stuff before selling.
Only issue for most people is that you need to ship to Finland which unfortunately can be too expensive for low value gear.
