Manual Lens Focus Scale Realignment?
Quote from Cory Maben on March 12, 2024, 12:22 amI recently received a lens (Pentax 50mm f/1.7) and the focus scale is way off. I understand it's probably never going to be perfect, especially in older lenses. But this lens seems to reach infinity at about the 6' mark, and then focuses passed infinity for the rest of the scale making it an enormous waste. I have already contacted the seller and received a refund, but they said I could keep the lens. So I'm left with a dilemma; I can either sell the lens to KEH and get maybe $18 and just buy a replacement. Or I could try and fix it. Is there a way to fix this issue? I've read online someone saying that what's likely happened is the lens was taken apart and reassembled incorrectly. Has anyone here ever done that? If so, how easy is it to realign the focus? Does it require any specialized tools?
