I won a Ricoh photography contest, thanks to you all
First, I will point out that I was one of the 16 finalist winners, but not one of the three grand prize winners. Which is a bummer, because that special edition GRIII looked pretty sweet. But I agree with the top three photographs and the photographers and am excited for them and their new cameras!
I don't normally enter photography contests, because I am not particularly proud of any of my photos, but something pushed me to enter the Ricoh GR contest they recently ran on their Instagram page and Pentax Gallery. I entered into the first two categories, but ended up getting one photo picked for the "Outdoors" category. I am attaching the winning photo.
What is particularly cool about this shot is that it was one of my first taken on my Ricoh GR right after I bought it. It was during a morning bike ride. Not a particularly special spot but the recent rains had made a nice little pond. And the only reason I got back into taking pictures of seemingly ordinary things was because of good people like you who take pictures for the joy of taking pictures, and not to get the next NAT GEO cover. So, thank you.
At least I got a t-shirt and a sticker pack out of it!
They say on the Pentax Gallery that they will be doing another contest in December, so join if you have a Pentax/Ricoh camera!

Congratulations on being a finalist, it's always nice to get some recognition, especially when you shoot for yourself. I'm jealous of the GR swag!

Thanks, I really appreciate you being an original member of the forum, haha! I think it'd be a pretty nice select community, hopefully free from some of the drama on other sites. We'll see. I thought it'd be fun to try at least. Let me know if you run into any issues on the site. Maybe I'll create a feedback section somewhere..
And yes, I need to figure out which backpack to put the GR pin on. Pretty sweet.
A site dedicated to getting the most out of gear that might be a little older or less glamorous should be pretty select, at least I am sure it will weed out a lot of the drama which swirls around costly gear!
