Have you ever bought a camera for one "feature"?
Quote from James Warner on March 19, 2022, 9:19 pmHave you ever bought a camera based off of one feature? I think I have gotten worse at this over the years. Like, getting into a little absurdity. There's practical features for sure. Like if your deciding factor to go to Pentax or Olympus is weather sealing on their affordable bodies. But there's features like this:
(take a guess at what on earth is going on here xD)
Sony F-717.

I bought the LX100 because of the Leica lens and I wanted to see what all the Leitz obsession was about. Won't lie, it was a pretty good purchase.
The LED reminds me of those hats that have them built into the brim.

That's the only reason I upgraded to the K-3 III, so no 😛 Totally practical reason. Excited about your new setup incoming!

I believe that even more now based on my recent experience with my GX1 and 20mm panasonic lens. So much detail in that m4/3 sensor and lens is incredibly sharp. I've always thought m4/3 was cool but now I'm even more convinced 🙂

Quote from KankRat on March 20, 2022, 12:58 amWell, price was the number one feature 🙂
My next camera (likely a D7500 or D500) will have a flip UP screen. Not a flip out, or a flip upside down or a selfie position. Reason being I am getting rather old and decrepit to be lying-on the ground with my ear in the dirt trying to get a shot.
It's an effort to try to do something different from most of the wildlife shots you see on social media which is pretty repetitive.
I don't know if that counts as one feature since, in every way both of those cameras are at the front of the class when it comes to wildlife DSLRS.

I actually feel like the lens image quality is the weakest part about the LX100... but I suspect some samples just don't do well at medium to long range focus distances. All in all though, it's a killer little camera. If I didn't have a M4/3 system I'd keep an LX100 II. Slap a leather half case on it for a bit more grip and it would be nearly perfect.

You hit on the aspect of M4/3 that is so good: IQ with the tiny primes, of which the 20mm is the best of the bunch, and a very small body. The GX1 was a really advanced camera for its time and in such a small package... I enjoyed mine a lot.
