A full kit for peanuts!!

Page 1 of 2Next

My Sony A77 arrived! I got the body with 4 batteries and a battery grip for 150 EUR. Then I was able to buy all the rest for 65 EUR.

  • Tokina 20-35mm AF
  • Minolta AF 50mm 1.7
  • Minolta AF 70-210mm f4 "Beercan"
  • Sigma 70-300mm DL Macro
  • Minolta 9000 Film camera body

only gripe is that my A77 has a very high shutter count. Otherwise, so far impressed with this 10 year old camera! 2.4 million dot EVF, 12fps... backwards compatibility to Minolta AF glass.

What's the cheapest "complete" kit you've purchased? Please share!

Oh man, you're in for a treat! The Beercan is a great lens and I've always wanted to get my hands on the Maxxum 9000. You'll have to keep us in the loop with how the a77 is treating you.

Not that you need another piece of glass, but the Minolta A 28mm F2.8 is my second favorite to the 50mm F1.7.ย  Hope you enjoy your welcome to the A mount family as much as I did!

Haven't researched into the Tokina 20-35, look forward to seeing what it can do!

I'd have to say my Dynax 7D that I acquired from Mercari in November for $300.

  • Minolta 7D Body
  • Minolta 5000 35mm SLR with AF35-70 F3.5 Macro
  • Minolta 100-200 F4.5
  • Minolta 70-210 F4
  • Minolta 50 F1.7
  • Minolta 28 F2.8

Yep will do! First impressions are good. Still a bit weird holding a DSLR-like body with an EVF though. It'll take time for me to get the ins and outs coming from Pentax and Fujifilm.

The OG 7D! I was eyeing one too! The 5000 is suprisingly nice as well. Pretty much future proof because it runs on AAs. Same as with the 9000.

I was eyeing on the 28 2.8 as I wanted to compare it against the Pentax-F 28mm 2.8 but then this Tokina 20-35mm popped up for next to nothing. There are good reviews of it online. It's actually a pretty decent lens. If I come across a cheap 28mm, I'll try it out.

Congrats on your score! Looking forward to your first photos. Didnโ€™t know Sony was making dslrs back then so really curious!

Iโ€™ve never bought a kit per se but just grabbed a lot for a specific lens and it came with a bunch of crap I asked the seller to keep, and some other lenses of unknown quality I decided it may be worth shipping. One camera body is an Alpa si2000 and the other (I didnโ€™t take) was a Mamiya tl so not sure if the lenses are compatible or not, even. It arrives Friday so weโ€™ll see!

Whoever owned it before was laying on that shutter with 12fps ๐Ÿ˜‰

Really nice kit. Should be lots of fun. I'm curious how the old minolta glass autofocuses and performs on that camera. It works great on my older A100, but it has slow AF and is a much lower resolution camera.

My best complete kit I bought was a few years back. For some reason I never took a picture of the lot as I received, which I'm kicking myself for. Some of the stuff is shown here, but missing a few items. If I recall correctly this was the lot:

Pentax FA* 400mm f5.6 (an incredible find in awesome condition!)

Pentax DA* 16-50

Pentax FA 50mm f1.4

Tamron 28-300mm

Pentax-F 28-80

Pentax-F 70-210 (at the time no interest in F series, so I sold them off. Silly me!)

Pentax FA 28-105

Pentax FA 100-300

And then the camera was a Pentax K20D

I got the lot for a number you wouldn't believe anyway so won't mention it. I doubt I'll ever score something where the price to value ratio is good.

In the end I've sold off everything from that lot after using some of it for quite a while. Years later now I would really like that FA* 400mm, my friend even told me not to sell it because I'd regret it one day, but at the time I wasn't interested in wildlife and it was just sitting there. That's how it goes sometimes ๐Ÿ™‚
